Our response to coronavirus

Find out how we're working to keep the electricity and gas flowing reliably throughout the outbreak.

Are we listening? You bet!

As we start building our business plans for the next regulatory period (RIIO-T2), Gary Stokes, Electricity Transmission Stakeholder Engagement Manager shares how we’re engaging with our stakeholders.

Sandown Park Racecourse was the setting for the recent environment workshop for our gas and electricity transmission businesses. This event was the first in a series of activities, where our stakeholders help us build our business plans for the next regulatory period (RIIO-T2) starting in 2021.

I always have an irrational fear that no-one will turn up to these types of events, which seems to reach a peak about 15 minutes before the start! Thankfully, I was proved wrong. We had a great turnout for the workshop, with 38 stakeholders including consumer reps, environmental interest groups, consultants, academics, regulators, other networks, construction companies and technology organisations.

We had some really informative (and lively!) debate, with lots of useful output to work with.

These stakeholders gave their views on what our future environmental plans should focus on. We had some really informative (and lively!) debate, with lots of useful output to work with. And, based on the feedback we received, attendees also had a productive day.

Now comes the challenge of analysing what we heard and translating it into plans – something we’ll be focusing on over the next few months.

We’re back at Sandown in a couple of weeks, this time with a focus on innovation. And we have more activities planned across different topics and via different channels – making sure we listen and capture what our stakeholders want from us.
