We are passionate about operating our business in an environmentally responsible way and making sure sustainability shapes our thinking and decision-making.
By reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, finding better ways of conserving resources and protecting natural habitats and green spaces across the UK and US, we are finding better ways to do business. We know that sustainable business is good business, and we invite you to read more about our commitments and ambitions in our Responsible Business Charter.
Previously, the environmental strategy of our business was set out in Our Contribution. This focused our efforts in three key areas; climate, resource use, and the natural environment.
Our Responsible Business Charter represents the next stage of our environmental commitments, setting out a step-change in what we will achieve and pushing beyond the scope of Our Contribution. Within it, we have identified commitments and ambitions that we will work towards over the coming years to reduce our own emissions and enable a fair and affordable clean energy transition.
We will be publishing our overall performance against the targets set out in Our Contribution and against our new commitments and ambitions in the Responsible Business Charter in our new annual Responsible Business Report in 2021. In the meantime, this page shows the progress we have made to date and our plans moving forward.
National Grid’s ‘Our Contribution’ report sets out our priorities for acting sustainably and creates a framework for embedding sustainability across our organisation.
