This incredible photo wins our midwinter competition. Could you win this issue's prize?
Congratulations to Angela Clark from Yorkshire.
Grantor Angela, from Sutton on Forest near York, didn't hesitate when she saw the Gridline photo competition theme… and was first past the post to win a shopping spree.
"I was absolutely delighted to win," she says: "As soon as I read the details of the competition I knew I'd recently taken a shot which was ideal for the “it’s cold outside” theme. The photo is of racehorses enjoying their winter holidays, turned out on a cold sunny morning and enjoying chasing each other through the frosty, frozen fields."
Angela's picture, taken near Stillington, just north of York at a racehorse trainer friend’s yard, won £150 worth of shopping vouchers – and now it's your turn!

New caption competition
Grantor Lindsey Hewitt sent us this wonderful shot of her faithful hound Vince bounding through the snow-covered fields near her home in Burnley, Lancashire. By the look in his eyes there's definitely mischief afoot… but you decide in the Gridline caption competition and it could win you a £50 shopping voucher. Simply submit a humorous dialogue, witty one-liner or caption and the best entry collects a high street shopping voucher of your choice. Closing date is 16 February 2023.

The winner will be the first entrant selected at random who correctly identifies the answer and is a National Grid grantor at time of draw. The editor’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. Gridline reserves the right to change the prize without prior notice. It is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. By entering the competition you permit usage of the entry on Gridline Online and as an image for future caption competitions. Your grantor number must be supplied with every entry. All images submitted must be supplied in a landscape format and as high resolution as possible (the larger the file size, the better quality your image will be). The competitions are managed by our partner, Made By Sonder. Personal data will only be used for the purpose of administering the competitions and not shared with any third party.
