Next steps and getting in touch

As of Thursday 14 March 2024, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero has granted development consent for the Yorkshire GREEN project. This follows the conclusion of the examination period in September 2023 and issue of a recommendation report by the Planning Inspectorate in December 2023.

What happens now that the Project has been granted development consent?

Following the Secretary of State’s decision to grant development consent (on Thursday 14 March 2024), there is a six-week period in which the decision may be challenged. This process of legal challenge is known as judicial review.

Should there be no legal challenge, we are expecting our main construction programme to begin later this year, with the new infrastructure being operational in 2027. We anticipate final works and reinstatement to take place by the end of 2028. 

We will provide further information on this website in due course, including a more detailed construction programme.
