Find out how we're working to keep the electricity and gas flowing reliably throughout the outbreak.

Incident response

On this page, you’ll find out how we can support you with incident response. Emergency situations are always challenging and difficult, but knowing there’s support systems and plans in place can make all the difference.

How we can support your incident response

In the event of an emergency, we have specialist trained personnel to respond to and evaluate the incident. In addition, we hold an emergency stock of 132k and 33kv oil filled cables to be accessed in emergency events.  Our response teams are available 24-hours, 365 days a year.

Below is an overview of the solutions we offer. For more detailed information on your specific business needs please make an enquiry

24 Hour Emergency Call-out

This service is a 24-hour, 365 day a year emergency call-out. We provide you with appropriately authorised and trained National Grid electricity transmission personnel to respond to and evaluate faults or incidents on plant and equipment.

Support is provided either remotely or by deployment of a stand-by person to the site.

Spares and Storage

Spares and Storage

National Grid’s storage facility contains extensive stocks of strategic spares. Many of these spares are no longer supported or produced by the original equipment manufacturers, or they are subject to long lead times from the suppliers.

We’re able to give you emergency access to our stock of spares and cable on a 24-hour, 365 day a year basis. This means you can save business costs and still remain secure.

Cable & Cable Accessories

Cable and Cable Accessories

We manage emergency strategic stock of 132kV and 33kV oil-filled cables and cable accessories on behalf of Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and other Transmission Owners (TOs) as well as for our own use.

We finance stock acquisition, source alternative supplies of cable and provide technical support to all Cable Club members. The Club is a valuable national strategic resource which avoids the need for individual customers to hold their own stocks.
