Shannon J Soland

 

Career: Shannon leads National Grid’s IT & digital strategy, cyber-security, data and global IT infrastructure & operations functions. In his previous role he was the Chief Technology Officer focused on delivering quality, performance and innovation across our technology landscape.

Shannon has been leading technology and digital organisations for over 20 years, holding senior leadership positions with IBM and Verizon, including the role of department Chief Technology Officer at NextEra Energy. He has also held leadership positions bringing multiple start-ups through the IPO journey, showing the ability to drive dynamic results in small and large corporations.

Skills and competencies: Shannon has a keen focus on building high-performing teams that understand that technology on its own is not the end goal, but a means to achieve our business outcomes. He’s led major technology and organisational transformations, while ensuring that customer centricity is at the core of his team’s purpose.

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Saint Louis University and an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas – Arlington. He is also a Board member of SustainableIT.org, continuing to focus on global net-zero initiatives.
