National Grid ESO Offshore Coordination Study

We welcome the recent announcement that the Electricity System Operator (ESO) is undertaking an independent study into the co-ordination of the onshore and offshore network in East Anglia.

We will review our proposals for East Anglia GREEN and the other projects in the region against the conclusions of this study.

In the meantime, we must continue to progress our plans for East Anglia GREEN. We must meet challenging programme deadlines to connect offshore wind generation for the Government’s net zero commitments.

East Anglia GREEN has a target delivery date of 2030. It is vital that we continue to progress our work on this essential project to support a fairer, greener and cleaner energy system. We are continuing to plan for our next non-statutory interim consultation on an indicative draft route alignment for the project.

This will be an early opportunity to share the progress and explain the decisions we have made using information from your consultation feedback in 2022 and from ongoing environmental surveys and technical assessments.

We expect to hold the consultation in late spring / early summer 2023 when we look forward to receiving your comments and feedback.
