Starting work to build pylons near Stogursey

We’ve started work to connect Hinkley Point C power station to the existing National Grid network, which when complete, will bring low-carbon energy to the south west and connect six million UK homes and businesses.

In February 2021, we began building a new 4.5 kilometre overhead line north of Wick and removing 2.3 kilometres of existing overhead line that runs to the Hinkley B power station.

The first phase of the pylon construction was completed in early January 2022 and work has now begun to hang the wires (conductors) between the pylons, which will be operational by mid-2022. To hang the wires, scaffolding will be installed near Wick Moor Drove. To keep everyone safe during this work, temporary traffic lights will be in place.
