Connecting Weston-super-Mare to low carbon energy

We’ve completed work to modify the existing 132,000 volt line from Weston-super-Mare.

Nine new lattice pylons and a short section of underground cable installed to the new north-west of Sandford substation towards Puxton are ready for energisation.

With the new pylons and cables connected to the substation, together they will supply electricity to Western-super-Mare when Sandford substation is fully energised in 2023.

These modifications allow us to remove older pylons from around the substation, and to take down the long line of 249 lattice pylons between Bridgwater and Avonmouth by 2023.
