We’re developing our next business plan against a background of rapid change in the energy industry. We need to listen to our stakeholders, so we can understand your changing needs and involve you in our planning activities.
Planning our business together
We care about the communities in which we work, the environment, and the views of people and organisations who have an interest in what we do.
Decarbonisation, digitisation and decentralisation are all shaping the energy system of the future. We now face some important choices as we shape our business plan and we want to gain insight from you, our stakeholders.
By planning together, we can make sure we reflect what’s important to you and it will also help us shape plans that provide real benefits to consumers.
Regular consultations
Understanding your views is an ongoing process. Over the past three years, you’ve told us we’ve made noticeable improvements in some areas but need to improve in others.
By consulting regularly with you to find out how you think we’re doing, we can see where we need to improve. Regular feedback also helps inform our ongoing business planning.
Help shape our next business plan
We’re currently preparing our next business plan for the RIIO-T2 period 2021-2026.
Our planning involves:
- setting the standards of service we provide
- the investments we make
- how we’ll innovate for the future
- the performance outcomes upon which we’re measured.
We need to submit our final business plan to Ofgem by the end of 2019 and are encouraging everyone who has an interest in what we do to get involved.
Independent stakeholder group
We’re also working with our new independently chaired stakeholder group, whose role is to scrutinise our engagement approach and our RIIO-T2 business plan. The group provides challenge and feedback, ensuring our plan will achieve the right outcomes for stakeholders, who also include end consumers.
Alongside this, Ofgem's RIIO-2 challenge group is considering the affordability and sustainability of our plan.
The groups will each submit a report to Ofgem in addition to our own submissions. You can download the RIIO-2 Enhanced Stakeholder Engagement Guidance document from Ofgem’s website.

We’re making excellent progress on our performance, but we still need to improve. We want to provide the service that you expect from us.
