Walham substation - essential repair work
Working together to keep your community powered
Why are we here?
National Grid is committed to ensuring that the electricity network serving your community remains safe, reliable, and resilient. As part of this commitment, we’re carrying out important repair work on damaged underground cables near Walham Substation.
This essential work will help prevent future issues and enable us to maintain uninterrupted energy supplies to you and the region.
Keeping the roads clear – we need your help
To complete these essential works, we need to transport materials and equipment along part of Longhorn Avenue and Bonnie’s Lane. Unfortunately, there is no other route we can use. To help us do this and avoid the risk of damage to vehicles we are asking that the route shown in red on the plan below is kept clear of parked cars between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, from Monday 7th April and are finishing in the next few months. We thank you for your assistance.

Our commitment to you
At National Grid, we’re more than just an energy provider – we’re a partner in your community. We’re committed to:
- Minimising disruption wherever possible
- Communicating clearly throughout the project
Listening to your feedback and responding quickly
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Together, we can keep you and your area safe and connected.
