Interactive Map

We have produced an interactive map which allows you to interact with our updated proposals, as shared during our Statutory Consultation in 2021, and identify where you are in relation to our Project.

View an interactive map of our proposals

Using this interactive map, you will be able to:

  • Select the sections (A-F) of the Project that are relevant to you. More detailed plans for these sections are shown in our consultation plans.

  • Find a place or location in the local area that is important to you.

  • Click on the relevant icons on the map and see what is being proposed in each section.

Within our draft Order Limits (representing the maximum amount of land required to build the Project), parameters known as Limits of Deviation (LoD) are set out. This means that there is a degree of flexibility into the design so that any unforeseen issues that are encountered following consent can be dealt with. For example, we may need to move the position of a new pylon for geotechnical reasons, such as ground stability. These limits would allow us to move infrastructure on the ground as well as the vertical height of infrastructure.

Which project elements are shown on the map?

The map shows the following Project elements, as shown at Statutory Consultation in 2021:

Project element

Description

Existing overhead line

Existing overhead lines that will not be affected by the Project.

Indicative construction compounds

Temporary compounds installed during the construction phase of the Project. Six compounds are shown on this map.

Indicative substations

Two new substations are being proposed for Yorkshire GREEN, including one at Overton and one at Monk Fryston.

Indicative temporary towers or overhead lines

Temporary diversions of overhead lines (and temporary pylons) to ensure power can still be transferred across the network.

Gantries

An overhead bridge-like structure supporting electrical equipment.

Modified towers or overhead lines

Existing overhead lines and pylons currently in the area that will need to be modified.

Reconductored overhead lines

The replacement of old conductors (wires), insulators, earthwires, etc on an existing overhead line.

Dismantled overhead line

Existing overhead lines that will need to be dismantled.

Indicative cable sealing end compounds

Electrical infrastructure used as the transition point between overhead lines and underground cables. Four cable sealing end compounds are shown on the map.

Proposed towers or overhead lines

New overhead lines or pylons proposed for the Project. New pylons are shown as green icons along the sections of overhead lines.

Proposed underground cables

Underground cabling required to link together the cable sealing end compounds in each location.

Photomontages

Visualisations prepared for the Project from key surrounding viewpoints. Four viewpoints are shown on the map.
