Public meetings postponed

From 16 March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic

Due to the increase risk from COVID-19 and changing government guidelines, National Grid has deemed it prudent not to host or attend external meetings at present. This is to play our part in slowing the spread of this virus and maintain people’s health – we think this is the appropriate action to take.

This is a changing situation and we need to wait until further guidance is issued, before we can rearrange the programme of public meetings and briefings that were scheduled to share information on the Hinkley Connection Project.

James Goode, Project Director for National Grid, said: “We remain committed to open and transparent communications with all our stakeholders on this project but don’t want to put anyone at greater risk. All meetings will be rearranged as soon as the risk of COVID-19 passes. Meanwhile, we are exploring other options for our stakeholders to be able to engage with us and find out more about the project.”

Our project website will be kept up to date and is the ‘go to’ place for current construction activities and our community relations helpline (0800 377 7347) remains open 24/7 to answer any questions.

In terms of construction activity, we are working with our contractors to ensure measures are in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, in line with Government guidelines. These include restricting movement between sites and observing social distancing.
