Project description

In October 2018 we completed the refurbishment of the overhead power line between Walham and Cilfynydd.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we’ve carried out this once in a generation work. We appreciate that our work may have caused some impacts in the local area, but we worked hard to keep this to a minimum.

As part of our investment in the energy network in south Wales, we’ve replaced the line on around 240 pylons, over a 75km distance. We installed road closures at 14 locations across the line, each with their own special set of circumstances and challenges. All the roads have now been re-opened.

We kept local councils and communities informed of our progress. We’re still working closely with landowners to ensure the footpaths, fields and access points are restored to the same condition as they were before work started.

We’re a responsible business and have been active in the local community while we’ve been working in the area. Our Community Grant Programme is aimed at organisations and charities operating in areas where National Grid’s work is impacting on local people. During our work we funded several important projects, and supported some great groups helping to care for and improve their communities. We also carried out education sessions for pupils in local primary schools in partnership with STEM education specialists Mad Science.

We’d like to thank you for your patience while we’ve been in the area. If you have any questions, please contact our Community Relations team on 0800 073 1047. They’re available daily from 7am to 7pm.

Disgrifiad o'r prosiect

Ym mis Hydref 2018 fe wnaethon ni gwblhau’r gwaith o adnewyddu'r llinell pŵer uwchben rhwng Walham a Chilfynydd.

Diolch yn fawr am eich amynedd a’ch dealltwriaeth tra roedden ni’n gwneud y gwaith hwn, gwaith sydd ond yn digwydd unwaith mewn cenhedlaeth. Rydyn ni’n sylweddoli bod ein gwaith wedi effeithio rhywfaint ar y gymuned leol, ond fe wnaethon ni weithio’n galed i sicrhau cyn lleied o effaith â phosib.

Fel rhan o’n buddsoddiad yn y rhwydwaith ynni yn ne Cymru, rydyn ni wedi newid y llinell ar tua 240 peilon, sy’n ymestyn dros 75km. Fe wnaethon ni gau'r ffordd mewn 14 safle ar draws y llinell, a phob safle â’i amgylchiadau a’i heriau arbennig ei hun. Mae'r ffyrdd i gyd wedi cael eu hailagor erbyn hyn.

Roedden ni’n rhoi gwybod am ein cynnydd i gynghorau a chymunedau lleol. Rydyn ni’n dal i weithio’n agos gyda thirfeddianwyr er mwyn gwneud yn siŵr bod llwybrau troed, caeau a phwyntiau mynediad yn cael eu hadfer i’r un cyflwr ag yr oedden nhw cyn i’r gwaith ddechrau.

Rydyn ni’n fusnes cyfrifol ac rydyn ni wedi bod yn brysur yn y gymuned leol tra roedden ni’n gweithio yn yr ardal. Mae ein Rhaglen Grantiau Cymunedol wedi’i hanelu at sefydliadau ac elusennau sy’n gweithredu mewn ardaloedd lle mae gwaith y National Grid yn effeithio ar bobl leol. Yn ystod ein gwaith fe wnaethon ni ariannu sawl prosiect pwysig a chefnogi grwpiau gwych sy'n helpu i ofalu am eu cymunedau a’u gwella. Fe wnaethon ni hefyd gynnal sesiynau addysg ar gyfer disgyblion mewn ysgolion cynradd lleol mewn partneriaeth â Mad Science, arbenigwyr addysg STEM.

Hoffen ni ddiolch yn fawr am eich amynedd tra roedden ni’n gweithio yn yr ardal. Os oes gennych chi unrhyw gwestiynau, cysylltwch â'n tîm Cysylltiadau Cymunedol drwy ffonio 0800 073 1047. Mae'r tîm ar gael bob dydd rhwng 7am a 7pm.
