Integrity is exemplified by our strong safety culture.  Safety is paramount and we constantly emphasise the importance for each of us to ensure our own safety, the safety of our colleagues and the public as well as the safety of our networks.

We passionately believe that all workplace injuries and incidents are preventable.  Our Road to Zero programme is in place to help us achieve our target of zero injuries everyday.

National Grid's Golden Rules are a fundamental building block for our Road to Zero. They focus on critical areas of the business where safe behaviours are essential to safeguard ourselves and the public. They cover behaviours that will prevent the most serious injuries. 

Our Golden Rules cover areas from permits, authorisations and wearing personal protective equipment to working at height and ground disturbance, while also reinforcing more general activities such as safe driving.
