How We Work

The National Grid values framework sets out the three values that everyone in the Company is expected to demonstrate.

  • Integrity
    We act with integrity and are honest and open in all our dealings with people.
  • Ownership
    We take the initiative, act quickly and decisively as appropriate and are both responsible and accountable for following  through on our actions.

Our values are supported by Company initiatives and policies, including our Code of Employee Conduct.  The Code of Employee Conduct specifies the behaviour essential for the conduct of our affairs, for ensuring a safe and efficient workplace and for maintaining good relationships with fellow workers, customers, suppliers and the public.  

Our values underpin our promise to conduct our business safely, reliably, efficiently and responsibly.  Our success at this is regularly recognised. For the third year running, we have been ranked among the top five companies, and first in our sector, for the Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index.  This index is the leading UK benchmark of responsible business practice.
