National Grid is the largest utility in the UK and the second largest utility in the US. We play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and the Northeast US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.


We are currently looking for Substation Engineers. Due to the nature of the role you will need to be competent in planning, man-management, communicating, and supervising, in order to lead large groups of staff and to achieve efficient completion of tasks.  You will also have demonstrable skills in expenditure management and control of budgets.
 
You will have experience of applying full SAP duties across a large range of equipment, and the ability to commission a wide range of equipment to recognised standards and procedures. Demonstrable project delivery experience is also required.
 
You will have an HNC (or above) or equivalent in an engineering subject, and qualifications leading to registration with the IET as an incorporated engineer or chartered engineer or similar professional body. Senior Authorised Person status under National Grid Safety Rules is advantageous, as is IOSH Managing Safely.  A full driving licence is required.
