The electricity transmission system must be operated at all times in a safe, secure and economic manner. This becomes a real challenge when planning to take major circuits out of service to deliver our rising capital programme. As a Power Systems Engineer you’ll perform a vital role, ensuring system access is always available to people in transmission and also for our external customers. Working in a dynamic team based environment, you’ll apply your interpersonal and technical skills to develop long-term outage plans that balance National Grid’s system security, financial and commercial objectives.

You will have a degree or HNC in electrical or mechanical engineering or a similar numerate discipline. Ideally you’ll have experience working within high performance teams using complex technical and commercial information. You will have knowledge of electricity power systems and preferably experience gained in an operational or planning environment within the UK electricity supply industry or a related field.
