ENERGISE THE NATION

National Grid is the largest utility in the UK and the second largest utility in the US. We play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and the Northeast US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.

With your modern apprenticeship or equivalent, you could craft a fantastic future with us, one of the largest utilities in the world. We currently supply millions of homes and businesses across the country with gas and electricity. Join us and you’ll work on some of our 341 electricity substations, using your skills and resourceful nature to fit and maintain a range of mechanical equipment.

Whether you’re working in a team or on your own, you’ll have the confidence and capability to carry out mechanical maintenance and basic electrical fault finding at a range of sites. In addition to your knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance work, it’s initiative and enthusiasm you’ll call on, particularly to assist with commissioning and deal with problems that may arise.

Although we’ll develop your skills and build on your 18 months or more of experience, you’ll certainly need a sense of responsibility to work unsupervised and a full driving licence to travel between sites. These, together with your modern apprenticeship in an electrical or mechanical area and a City & Guild 232 or NVQ Level 3 will ensure you have all the right qualities needed to enhance your career and our service.

So, if you’d like the opportunity to work for one of the world’s largest utilities within an inclusive environment that values diversity, please apply by completing an application form via the link on the right quoting reference EXT3320.
