Transmission network shapefiles

These datasets are for indicative purposes only. They can only be used for emergency and land use planning and cannot be used for commercial purposes. They are owned by National Grid and you are required to acknowledge us in your product or application using "© National Grid UK".

This data is supplied on a best-effort basis only, using available information as documented at the time by the transmission network operators. While every effort is made to make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date, we do not accept any liability for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss or damage of any nature--however caused--which may be sustained as a result of reliance upon such information.

The datasets contain electricity transmission data only. For electricity distribution data, please contact the distribution company for your area. You can find your local distribution company by going to the Energy Networks website.

If you are planning to undertake any ground works, please visit the Cadent website or contact the Plant Protection team at least 14 days in advance.

All datasets are accompanied with Gemini 2.2 metadata.

Identify the area you are interested in and download the corresponding document. Our high voltage overhead electricity lines are shown in red against a general map background. 

If you are planning work please contact us at least 14 days in advance. 

If you have a compatible GIS you may be able to use the overhead lines shapefiles that represent this network.
