Competitive transmission

Discover how energy transmission upgrades and help facilitate further renewable energy supply.

Competitive energy transmission

We’re competing for large-scale energy transmission projects across North America and the UK. Our know-how and experience make us uniquely qualified to deliver large-scale transmission assets, which will continue to play a critical role in tomorrow’s cleaner and smarter energy systems.

We are actively involved in several competitive transmission projects in the U.S., including through New York Transco and Millennium Pipeline.

New York Transco

New York Transco, of which National Grid Ventures is a part-owner, energized three new transmission upgrade projects in New York in 2016 which provide several ongoing benefits, including reducing upstate to downstate transmission congestion to save money for electricity consumers and offer better access to clean energy, and supporting the retirement of traditional power generation.

New York Transco’s operational assets include the Ramapo to Rock Tavern 345 kV Line, Frasers-Coopers Corner 345 kV Line and Staten Island Unbottling.
