Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Facts

  • Is CO2 safe?
  • Is CO2 corrosive?
  • I gather methane has an odorant put into to it to make us aware of it if it leaks. Why can’t you do the same for CO2?
  • If you can’t see or smell this gas, how will you know that there is a leak?
  • Is it safe to transport CO2 with pipelines?
  • I understand the pipes in the US which are used to ship CO2 are specially designed, why do you think it’s safe to use pipes that were originally designed to ship methane in the UK?
  • What do you do to ensure the safety of the pipeline?
  • What’s the closest a CO2 pipe can legally pass next to a house or workplace?
  • If I really don’t want this gas coming anywhere near my house, what can I do? Who do I complain to?
