Remember...

When you undertake any MPU work you need to comply with the current recognised industry document IGE/GM/7 Edition 2.  Installers should note that this document is currently under review by IGEM and is expected to be replaced by a new version in the next few months. In the meantime installers wishing to request access to the meter pulse output from National Grid meters can do so by signing up to the MPU Agreements which National Grid currently has in place. 

National Grid currently manages two MPU Agreements:

1. “Framework Agreement and General Conditions for Installation of MPU Equipment to Meters with Badge Capacity Exceeding 11scmh” covers instances where an MPU connection is required and there is no other MPU equipment attached to the National Grid Meter.

2. “Framework Agreement and General Conditions for Connection of MPU Equipment to National Grid Daily Read Equipment” covers instances where an MPU connection is required and MPU equipment (e.g. converters, data loggers etc.) is already installed.

Current versions of both Agreements together with details of Procedures, Templates and Prices can be accessed and printed from the electronic versions of the documents provided below. Operation of the MPU Agreements:

Notwithstanding the terms of the MPU Agreements, National Grid has informed the industry that it will be prepared to operate the Agreements to effectively extend the terms in relation to two particular matters (i) to remove the restriction on installing MPU equipment to meters with a capacity less than 11scmh (most commonly referred to as U6 meters) and (ii) to allow Suppliers to continue to access MPU where they are no longer the Gas Supplier to site. These operational changes come into effect immediately and will apply until further notice. More details can be found in the document attached below entitled 'Operation of the MPU Agreements'.
