A team of nine National Grid employees, who are based at the company’s headquarters in Warwick, swapped laptops for paint brushes this week to redecorate part of Coundon Day Care Centre, on Dallington Road in Coventry.
The volunteers took two days out of the office to paint the dining hall at the day centre, which is used by elderly members of the community and as a meeting space for brownies and scouts groups.
The room was painted by the volunteers as part of a community project. The redecoration now provides a nicer environment for the elderly members of the day centre, who regularly enjoy meals and parties there.
Pam Barnes, Honorary Fundraiser at the centre, said: “It’s only with the support of people such as the National Grid volunteers that we can maintain our commitment to the members of the community.”
Natalie Harrison, team leader of the project, said: “The team worked really hard over the two days that we were at the centre.
“The room we worked on is used by lots of different groups of people. Hopefully, now that it’s been fully redecorated, it can be used further.”
