Temporary Traffic Lights - Stonegate, Spalding

20/10/2005

Motorists are being advised of temporary traffic lights on the junction of Stonegate and Halmergate, Spalding from 22 October for one week, whilst National Grid continues its essential mains replacement project.

The work is part of a larger ongoing project along Stonegate to lay 1.6 kilometres of new gas main, to improve the gas network in the area.

The temporary traffic lights will be from Stonegate and Halmergate to the junction of Halmergate Gate and Holland Road.

Project manager, Mick Lewsey explained: "We have recognised this is a very traffic sensitive area and have worked very closely with the local authority, carefully considering the traffic management for this project.  A lot of the work has been completed over school holiday periods to reduce disruption to traffic.

“During the school summer holidays we managed to complete a large part of the work, again we have agreed to complete the final section during the half term holiday.”

We accept that some disruption is inevitable but hopefully people will agree that this is a small price to pay for a safe and reliable gas supply.

We ask that residents and road users are patient and work with us, so that we can ensure the gas main is laid as quickly and safely as possible.
