Santa is dreaming of a ‘green’ Christmas this year when he sets up his grotto in the ancient woodlands at Bishops Wood Centre near Stourport.
On Tuesday, December 6 a trail of lights will lead visitors through the woods to Santa’s hideaway in the futuristic Home for Life building where he will be waiting to hand out presents to the children.
To add to the festive feel, a choir will be singing Christmas Carols and traditional Christmas refreshments will be available.
Head of Centre John Rhymer said: ‘Our family Christmas treat gives everyone the chance to visit our centre and experience the magic of the woodlands at night. While the children take away their presents, their parents can take away a few ideas of how to have a greener Christmas!"
The event has been organised by the Friends of Bishop’s Wood.
Santa will be in his hideaway between 6.30 and 9pm. Admission to the Centre is free for adults and £1.50 for children. The Centre is off the A4025 Bishops Wood Lane, behind the Mitre Oak at Crossway Green, near Stourport.
Bishops Wood Centre is in the grounds of the Bishops Wood high-voltage electricity sub-station at Crossway Green. It is part of the National Grid environmental education centre network and is run in conjunction with Worcestershire County Council, Worcester College of Technology and Friends of Bishops Wood.

National Grid Environmental education centres
Bishop's Wood is part of National Grid's network of environmental education centres based on electricity substation sites around the UK. Our centres are run in partnership with local education authorities, environmental charities and other organisations, and provide outdoor learning opportunities for schools and a range of activities and training for adults, community groups and companies.
National Grid environmental education centre sites range in size from a few acres in an urban setting to 80 acres of meadows and ancient woodland. All provide a safe and secure environment for all age groups to learn about their natural world.
