Gas Works in Bentley

20/06/2008

West Midlands Gas Alliance is advising motorists of roadworks in Bentley, Walsall.

A project to replace the gas main running along Boundary Mill Way started this week.  Boundary Mill Way has been closed to through traffic from the Showcase Cinema to the junction with Cemetery Road and Darleston Road.

Access to all businesses is open.

The work is expected to take two months to complete.  During this time the old metal gas main will be replaced by a new plastic pipe which, once laid, will last around 80 years with little or no maintenance.

The work is being carried out on behalf of National Grid by West Midlands Gas Alliance.  The Alliance is a partnership of two companies, National Grid and Morgan Est plc, a major utilities contractor.

The project is part of National Grid’s 30 year programme to improve the safety and reliability of the gas supply network by replacing all metal gas pipes that lie within 30m of property.
