British Market Requirements

The British market arrangements are managed by a separate organisation called Elexon. Full details of the British market requirements can be found on the Elexon website www.elexon.co.uk.

In summary, Users will need to:

  • Accede to the Framework Agreement of the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC);
  • Register as a Party with the BSC Central Registration Agent using BSC Procedure 65 (BSCP65);
  • Submit details of Authorised Signatories to the BSC Central Registration Agent for the purposes of verifying who is authorised to complete registration documentation using BSC Procedure 38 (BSCP38);
  • Register Balancing Mechanism Units (Production and Consumption) with the BSC Central Registration Agent using BSC Procedure 15 (BSCP15).


In addition, Users will need to:

  • Notify National Grid's Operations and Trading function of their intention to register Interconnector BM Units with National Grid.
