Constrained LNG (CLNG): use of LNG Storage capacity to save on pipeline investment - also known as transmission support

Cubic meter (m3): one cubic meter of LNG approximates to 6680 kWh

Duration: the space of a facility divided by its deliverability i.e. the number of full days the service can be used

Kilowatt hour (kWh): A unit of energy used by the gas industry approximately equal to 0.0341 therms

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): Gas stored / transported in liquid form 

Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem): The regulatory agency responsible for regulating the UK's gas and electricity markets

Operating Margins (OM): Gas used by National Grid to maintain system pressures under certain circumstances, including periods immediately after a supply loss or demand forecast change, before measures become effective and in the event of a plant failure, such as pipe breaks and compressor trips

Storage Flow Notification (SFN): a communication between Storage Operator and Transporter, indicating hourly and end of day flows from a facility

Storage Year: A twelve month period commencing 1st May

Therm: an imperial unit of energy largely replaced by the metric equivalent equal to 29.3071 kilowatt hours

Tonnes: one tonne of LNG approximates to 15,500 kWh

Unified Network Code (UNC): The contractual document that defines the contractual relationship between LNG Storage and its customers
