This page contains several documents to help you with your application, including an
explanation of what happens and instructions on how to work out how much the work will cost.
The Guidance Notes Booklet and Step-by-Step Guide will allow the majority of customers to calculate how much their gas service pipe alteration will cost. We recommend that you read the enclosed information thoroughly, including the following important key points:
- We will only reconnect your gas meter if you have requested and paid for this work and if the alteration involves no more than 2 metres of additional internal copper pipe work. If more than 2 metres is required, you will need to arrange for a CORGI registered installer to fit the additional internal pipe work and reconnect your meter.
- If your meter needs replacing, or exchanging, you will need to contact your Gas Supplier to make the necessary arrangements. Please quote the unique Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) that appears on your gas bill. Your meter may need to be exchanged if it is damaged, or does not fit into the new meter box that you have chosen. If you have selected a Semi-Concealed Meter Box, only certain meters are compatible with this type.
- If you require a Built-In Cavity Meter Box, you will need to purchase one yourself and ensure that it is correctly installed before we start work on site. Please see the enclosed ‘Built-In Cavity Meter Box Stockist List’ for further information.
Please also remember that we will not install gas pipe work under the floor of any building.
- When you send in your Application Form, remember to include your payment (or completed Payment Form where paying by Credit/Debit Card) and retain a copy for your records.
- On receipt of your signed Application Form and payment, we will contact you within four weeks of receipt to arrange a convenient date to commence the works on site.
