You will always be given the earliest work commencement date that is available. We will contact you to discuss this date within 20 working days of us receiving your acceptance and payment. Please see the potential timeline for a guideline of this process.
The current work commencement timescales for each Network (for orders paid for and accepted as of today) are as follows (subject to exceptions as below):
The work is usually completed within one day, depending on its complexity.
Reinstatement of any excavations carried out by National Grid will be completed within 5 working days, following completion of the service pipe work. If however you have opted to provide the excavations it will be your responsibility for the reinstatement of these (on private land only), National Grid will still reinstate any excavations on public land.
When creating your account, please ensure you provide a working day 9am to 6pm contact telephone number to enable us to contact you if necessary to clarify any details, to arrange a site survey or to agree a commencement date for the works. Failure to do so may delay your request.
Exceptions
The lead times quoted above may be affected by the notice period that local highway authorities require for certain types of roads, the current workload at the time of your request, adverse weather conditions or the complexity of the work, amongst others.
