Select this option if your property does not currently have gas and you require it.
You do have to pay for this service. An indication of charges for a domestic property standard new service.
Work at non-domestic properties or where the work is non-standard because of distances require a bespoke quotation and the payment of a 'Quotation Charge' to provide this quotation.
In most circumstances and if requested and paid for, National Grid will:
- Bring a service pipe from the public road or footpath to your required meter position.
- Provide and install the meter box or housing if the meter is to be on an outside wall.
- Provide and then reinstate any excavations in order for us to lay our service pipe. (You can opt to arrange this yourself for a reduced cost).
Please be aware National Grid will not provide you a gas meter. We will also not install or connect to any boilers, appliances etc.
- You must order a gas meter from your chosen Gas Supplier (who you intend to pay your gas bill to).
- You should arrange installation and connection of internal appliances, boilers etc with a Gas Safe Registered engineer.
You will only be able to order a gas meter when National Grid provide you with a work commencement date and your MPRN (meter reference number) which will not be until after you have accepted and paid for the work.
Important Your gas service will only become active when your meter has been installed so be aware of this in your planning if you are intending to remove your present heating and/or cooking provision.
