Under the terms of its licence as a gas transporter, National Grid is allowed to recover the costs which it reasonably anticipates to incur when it provides connection services.
Our charges will reflect the cost of labour, materials, and any special expenses required to carry out the connection to the customer's requirements.
Connection Work Charges
Charges for connection works are calculated using:
- the current national materials cost and any special expenses required to carry out the connection plus overheads related to the management of materials and other bought in services
- the contract rates for the relevant LDZ plus overheads related to the management of contract labour and general costs of providing connections activities
Design Charges
Any charges made for design works will be calculated on the basis of the cost that we expects to incur in carrying out such a design and is dependant upon the information provided by the customer, other publicly available information and information relating to our pipeline system. We will charge for design except where a standard charge quotation applies.
Other organisations, e.g. Shippers, Utility Infrastructure Provider, etc.., may not calculate charges on this basis. Enquiries related to charges by other organisations should be directed to them.
It may be possible to obtain competitive quotations from other organisations. Charging methodologies may vary. Details on the charging methodology employed should be obtained from the organisation providing your quotation.
