Generation Use of System Charges

On connection to the GB Transmission system, generators are required to pay the following charges:-

Transmission Network Use of system (TNUoS)
This charge recovers the cost of Installing and maintaining the GB Transmission network required to allow the bulk transfer of power between connection sites and to provide transmission system security. This charge reflects the marginal investment cost associated with transport of electricity. The applicable TNUoS charge payable by a customer is dependant on the zone where the customer’s site is located & the contracted TEC for the site.

Further information including The Statement of Use of System Charges can be found in the Charging area.

Connection Charges
Connection charges enable National Grid to recover the costs involved in providing the assets that afford connection to the GB transmission system.  Connection charges relate to the costs of assets installed for the sole use of an individual User.

Further information including The Statement of the Connection Charging Methodology can be found in the Charging area.

Balancing Services Use of System (BSUoS)
This charge recovers the cost of balancing the system adequately through the balancing mechanism process. The relevant BSUoS charge that a customer is contractually liable to pay is based on a number of variables.

For a detailed understanding of how this charge is calculated please refer to The Statement of the Use of System Charging Methodology, found in the Charging area.
