BMRS Surplus (SPLD) Breakdown & Total Contracted Availability
In response to feedback from Market Participants, and in line with recommendations from National Grid’s Reserve Review, National Grid has undertaken to explicitly publish its Operating Planning Margin Requirement (OPMR) and its consistent components. The intention is to assist Market Participants in having a fuller understanding of the underlying variables affecting the market surplus (SPLD) figure as defined and available on the Balancing Mechanism Reporting System (BMRS).
In addition to the information described above, the amount of generation declared available via OC2 but already contracted by National Grid to meet its short term operating reserve requirement will be published.
Daily Reserve Information
National Grid will provide information relevant to the level of Reserve required on the system for the peak of the day by end of Business Day ahead and end of Business Day+1 on a reasonable endeavours basis.
Business Day ahead this information covers the level of Reserve required by National Grid and the level of Reserve available to National Grid. Business Day +1, the information will cover the Final Planning Stage level of Reserve Required by National Grid and details of any warming actions taken by National Grid in the course of securing that level of Reserve.
