What is the CUSC?
The Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC) is the legal document which constitutes the contractual framework for connection to, and use of, National Grid's high voltage transmission system. The following parties need to sign on to the CUSC Framework Agreement (which gives the Code its contractual effect:
- National Grid, under the requirements of the Transmission Licence.
- Holders of a generation, distribution or supply licence.
- Users who are required to sign an agreement under the Balancing and Settlement Code.
- Users who are directly connected to the National Grid Transmission System
- Users who are Embedded and required under Paragraph 6.5 of the CUSC to have an agreement with National Grid are all required to be a party to the CUSC Framework Agreement.
