Maximum Generation

The Maximum Generation Service (MGS) allows access to capacity which is outside of the Generator’s normal operating range in emergency circumstances. MGS will be initiated in specific circumstances by the issuing of an Emergency Instruction in accordance with the Grid Code BC2.9.2.  The last Maximum Generation utilisation was in July 2006.

The service is provided on a non-firm basis with providers being paid for any energy that they deliver. The arrangements for MGS are contained within the CUSC.
