System Security Services

National Grid has the obligation of ensuring the security and quality of electricity supply across the GB Transmission System. There is a variety of tools available to assist National Grid in achieving it, including:

  • Buying or selling electricity in the Balancing Mechanism
  • Intertrips Agreements and
  • Transmission Constraint Agreements (for example to agree with a generator to constrain their output over a period).
