In order to balance electricity demand and supply and ensure its security and quality across the GB Transmission System.  We procure Balancing Services such as:

- ancillary services

- buying or selling electricity via offers and bids made in the Balancing Mechanism

- other energy related products e.g. Pre Gate Closure BMU Transactions

The following Section provides a brief overview of each service together with further information on its procurement, potential tenders and utilisation.  The rules for governing the operation of the Balancing Mechanism are set out in the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC).
