SM Demand Workshop - Letter

SM/Market info/29 Nov 06

Dear Customer/Supplier

National Grid is intending to hold a workshop in 29 November 2006 at offices of Elexon in London to discuss the operational electricity demand forecasting and electricity demand information.

The primary purpose of the workshop is to identify, through market participation, areas to improve information flow electricity demand and to explore whether further demand-related information could be released to the market.

This will help both the industry and National Grid to make more informed decisions; the Users could improve their self-balancing ahead of the Gate Closure and, in turn, National Grid will be able to better perform its residual balancing role.

This meeting is part of a wider National Grid consultation on the extent to which National Grid could improve the efficiency of the electricity market by improved demand forecasting process and the release of further information.

In order to make significant progress on the day of the workshop, we would encourage any new suggestions for improvement or additional information being sent in advance of the workshop.

It is envisaged that a maximum of 2 personnel with operational demand-forecasting responsibility from each company will attend.  We would appreciate a prompt reply, and confirmation.
