Prize details

  1. The winner will receive £3,500 ‘towards their student accommodation’.
  2. The winner and 3 friends/housemates will win a night in London on Friday 28th October, including travel to and from London, hotel accommodation, special guests in the live audience of the first ever live, interactive Magic WebTV show and some spending money to go out on the town with after the show.

 

Terms and conditions

  1. Entrants must be aged 18 or over and be UK residents.
  2. The winner must currently attend a UK University and hold a valid National Union of Students card.
  3. By entering the competition, the winner agrees to enter into such promotional activity as the promoter may reasonably require. National Grid will not disclose your personal data other than your name in such promotion.

Prize element a) £3500

  1. The winner will receive £3500 from the organiser in the form of a cheque.

Prize element b) London trip / audience of live, magic, WebTV show

  1. The winner and 3 friends must be available to travel to London and be part of the live WebTV show audience on Friday 28th October. The show will be live at around 7pm and last about half an hour, but as guests, the winner and friends will need to be at the London studio late afternoon and suitable travel and accommodation will be booked by the organiser to coincide with show times and requirements.
  2. Travel is subject to availability at the discretion of the organiser and will be by train, or should the winner live more than four (4) hours train travel time from their destination, flights will be sourced where possible, subject to availability.
  3. At least one person must be over the age of 18 years of age.
  4. The hotel will be based on four people sharing two twin rooms, with en-suite facilities on a bed and breakfast basis: The 4 star Crowne Plaza Shoreditch High Street.
  5. Winner and three (3) friends to be given a total of £300 spending money towards their evening out, but any additional expenses occurred will be the responsibility of the winning party and not National Grid.
  6. There is no cash alternative to this element of the prize and the prize is non-negotiable, not transferable or returnable.
  7. Only one entry per person will be entered into the prize draw.
  8. National Grid reserves the right to cancel or amend the prize draw or these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
  9. Only those entries that ‘fill out their details in the video player in National Grid’s Student Union Facebook page will be entered into the prize draw.
  10. No purchase is necessary.
  11. The closing date for the competition is 5pm on Sunday 23rd October 2011.
  12. The draw will be made on Monday 24th October 2011 and the winners will be contacted by telephone, email or Facebook the same day.
  13. Details of the winner will be available 28 days after the draw is made by applying to National Grid.
  14. National Grid’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. The promoter is National Grid Gas plc, 1-3 The Strand, London, WC2N 5EH.

  17. National Grid will fulfil the prize through a third party provider working on its behalf.
  18. Winners must claim their prize by close of play on Monday 24th October 2011 by providing full names and addresses of themselves.
  19. A winner shall forfeit the prize if it is not claimed by the due date. National Grid may not award prizes that are not distributed pursuant to this Clause.
  20. National Grid reserves the right to request proof of identity in the form of a passport, driving license and a utility bill bearing the winner’s address.
  21. Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s prior consent.
  22. Data relating to entrants will be retained by National Grid for a reasonable period after the prize draw closes to assist National Grid to deal with any queries on the prize draw.
  23. We reserve the right to feature photographs and the names and towns of prize winners in future publications and publicity.
  24. National Grid cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the prize draw or as a result of accepting any prize. National Grid is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination of these, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the prize draw.
  25. National Grid shall not be liable to perform any of its obligations under the competition or in respect of the prizes where it is unable to do so as a result of circumstances beyond its control and shall not be liable to compensate you in such circumstances.
  26. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude National Grid’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence or for fraud.
  27. The prize draw and terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
  28. The winner will be selected at random and National Grid’s decisions on all matters relating to the competition are final.
