National Grid's your flexible benefits programme provides our employees with more flexibility around their health, lifestyle and protection benefits. 

The programme enables employees to choose the level of cover that suits their needs and the needs of their family, and provides them with the opportunity to change some of the benefits they receive as their individual circumstances and needs change. 

Many of the benefits offer valuable tax and National Insurance savings and special rates and policy terms make most of the benefits highly competitive compared to the High Street.

Private Medical Insurance

This benefit allows employees to select Private Medical Insurance from BUPA for themselves and their families.

Healthcare Cash Plan

The Healthcare Cash Plan covers medical care services and everyday treatments provided by the NHS or a private insurer. 

Health Screening

The Health Screening benefit allows employees to assess the shape they are in and allows for either a basic all-round health check or a more detailed and thorough review of their physical condition.

Dental Insurance

This benefit can help protect against unexpected bills, by enabling employees to claim back the cost of NHS or private dental treatments.

Holidays

This benefit gives employees the opportunity to 'buy' or 'sell' up to 3 days of holiday.

Childcare Vouchers

Employees can select Childcare Vouchers up to a maximum of £243 a month free of tax and National Insurance, enabling them to save money on the cost of childcare.

Retail & Holiday Vouchers

This benefit allows employees to take advantage of discounts of between 4% and 8% on retail and holiday vouchers at a number of high street stores.

Travel Insurance

This competitive cover includes an unlimited number of trips a year and up to 60 days per trip.  Employees can elect coverage for themselves as well as for their spouse and/or dependent children.

Bicycles

This benefit allows employees who use a bicycle as part of their journey to work to select a bicycle free of tax and National Insurance.

Personal Accident Insurance

All employees are currently entitled to a level of Personal Accident Insurance cover.  This benefit enables employees to top up their coverage to provide for greater financial security in the event of a serious or fatal accident.

Critical Illness Insurance

This benefit aims to lessen the financial impact that is often associated with serious illness, providing a tax free lump sum if the employee is diagnosed with certain medical conditions.
