You will support a Delivery Engineer in carrying out a wide range of duties on HV plant and equipment to the highest standards. These will range from complex fault finding and repair, maintenance and commissioning to safety implementation and monitoring. You will also manage the day-to-day work of a team, provide training and mentoring and monitor the work of contractors. Promoting safety awareness and providing risk assessments will also be an important part of the job.
Working as an integral member of a mobile workforce in groups that best match the planned programme of work within all functions of MDE substations group, you’ll be required to adopt a flexible approach to work and its completion so as to minimise cost. You’ll travel direct to and from the point of work therefore a full driving license is essential, and you’ll also undertake standby duties as per an agreed standby rota.
Qualified to at least HNC or equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline, you will have an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification and, ideally, a certificate in management studies. A wide range of experience in Substations work and/or HV cable systems will have included applying full SAP duties across a variety of equipment, commissioning and delivering projects. Effective planning, communication and supervisory skills, a high level of environmental awareness and proven ability to deal with emergency situations will be required.
