National Grid is the largest utility in the UK and the second largest utility in the US.  We play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and the Northeast US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.

As a member of a small, multidisciplinary team of technicians, you’ll carry out a range of tasks – spanning installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance – vital to the operation of a compressor station, which will also serve as your base. From here, you’ll support activity at other stations and transmission pipelines, using your good communication skills to ensure that work is planned ahead and understood by those around you.

Ideally you will come to us with a BTec National Certificate (or equivalent) and core knowledge of rotating machinery; experience of gas turbine driven compression machinery and knowledge of valve operation and maintenance.

A valid driving licence is also required, as is the flexibility to work either a standby or shift rota.
