So what do we look for in apprentices? At least four GCSEs (Grade C or above), Maths and English Language are a must. A course in Design and Technology or IT would also help, but it’s not essential. What we do need to see is your interest in technical operations.
Our apprentices join us from a number of different backgrounds, including school leavers, technical colleges, other apprenticeships (technical and non-technical) and related trades.
Although the work is outdoors, it’s nowhere near as physical as a construction or building role. Whether you’re male or female, if you enjoy an outdoor environment, you’ll be ideal for this apprenticeship.
As we have both public-facing and site-focussed roles, it’s important that you have the ability to work on your own initiative, a keenness to learn and good communication skills in order to deal with different situations and a variety of people.
It’s also equally important that you are an effective team member with flexibility and a willingness to accept new ideas in order to effectively contribute to the job at hand.
