This is advanced

This is a comprehensive training programme and it could take up to three years to complete.  Half of your time will be spent in training away from the job; the rest will involve working on live projects with experienced people – many of whom have gone through an apprenticeship themselves.  There will be lots of training and loads of support, through the people you work with and through NewNet.  This is a support network run by our trainees to create a network where you can share information, make friends, develop contacts and get involved in a variety of events.  By the end of the programme, you will be a skilled craftsperson with relevant qualifications to your name, working for a company with a proven track record.

You could be working in a number of different and exciting areas – overhead lines, substations or our gas transportation operations.  In each unit, the work is interesting, evolving and demanding.  From managing our high-pressure gas pipeline to looking after high-voltage systems, you will be part of a team that makes sure the network is more reliable than ever.

You’ll enjoy being out and about, often working in the open and in all sorts of weather as well as with members of the public in the communities in which we operate.  You could be trying to find and fix a gas leak.  You could be at a substation doing some essential maintenance.  You’ll welcome the variety.
