“For me, this is a place where you can control your own destiny. Wherever you want to go here, you can – but it’s all up to you. You won’t be handed anything on a plate. That said, you’re given every opportunity to equip yourself with the skills you need to progress. The investment in training is very impressive. One course in a big country house lasted for three days and involved devising our own five-minute film, which was then recorded by a professional film crew.

“I’ve loved the variety. I’ve been to the middle of nowhere in Kent and I’m now in London; my last stop on the scheme is Warwick. My dad in Ireland keeps losing track of where I am! The Kent post was really eye-opening, as it’s the site of the main interconnector to France, which I had the chance to visit.

“I’ve got my hand in so many pies at the moment, and I’m using the career training we’re given to steer my own development. Like I said, it’s up to you. This is a very ambitious company – it aims to be the world’s premier network utility – and I want to help it become that!”
