Local communities

During 2007/08, National Grid invested some £9 million (2006/07: £9 million) in support of community initiatives and relationships across our operations. In addition to our charitable donations, financial support was provided for our Affordable Warmth Programme, education programmes, university research and our ‘Young Offenders Into Work Programme’.

Within this figure, direct donations to charitable organisations amounted to £0.6 million (2006/07: £2.9 million).

The London Benchmarking Group model was used to assess our overall community investment.
