Safety is core to our business. We must all recognise the responsibility each of us has to ensure our own safety, the safety of our colleagues and those who work with us and who are affected by our operations.
This perspective looks at how we have performed in this area during 2007/08; a year when the absolute number of lost time injuries fell but our employee lost time injury frequency rate remained static.
- Lost time injury frequency rate at 0.24 compared with 0.24* in 2006/07
- Employee lost time injuries fell to 88 compared with 97* in 2006/07, a 9 % decrease
- Contractor lost time injuries fell to 105 compared with 131 in 2006/07, a 20% decrease
- Employee sickness absence rate fell slightly to 2.46% compared with 2.48% in 2006/07
- A member of the public died as a result of a road traffic accident in the US
