As a responsible business, we proactively manage existing and future environmental risks and impacts.

This perspective looks at how we have interacted with the environment during 2007/08:

• 38% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions against our baseline compared with 35% in 2006/07
• Significant environmental incidents directly associated with our operations fell to 34 compared with 40 in 2006/07 - 25 resulted from contractor-related incidents compared with 20 the previous year.
• No prosecutions by enforcing bodies resulting from these incidents.
• Received 6 environmental citations In the US in 2007/08 compared with 9 in 2006/07 - 1 attracted a fine of $6,000 (£3,000)
• 66%* of employees at 31 March 2008 working to certified ISO 14001 environmental management systems
